At The Mad Potter's, there are two causes that are near and dear to our heart - those born with Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) and those living the upside of life with Down syndrome. Two of The Mad Potter's grandchildren, who are the children of The Mad Potter's daughter, are enjoying life to the fullest despite the obstacles they face through their life-long diagnosis'.
Through our family business, we believe we have an opportunity to raise awareness and make a difference for Savannah and Dylan and others like them. We hope you'll join us! Take a peak below to learn the stories of Savannah and Dylan and how you can help us raise awareness!
If you've frequented the shop, it's highly likely you've met Dylan. He ADORES every customer and it's likely he'll ask for your signature, invite you to his birthday party and give you a hug, if you'll let him.
Dylan is a hard worker who especially loves the warmer months, when he can sit outside during Brentwood's Downtown Farmer's Market and pass out fliers with the shop 411!
We look forward to celebrating Down syndrome on 3/21 - World Down Syndrome Day - and throughout the month of October, which is Down syndrome awareness month. We will post specific event details as these dates approach.
This girl loves assisting around the shop and one of her favorite tasks is helping package up items to go home. She says that even though customers know what they painted, it's still like Christmas when they get to see the finished piece for the 1st time!
Born with the CHD Tetrology of Fallot (TOF), this gal underwent her 1st heart surgery at just 7 weeks of age . Although the TOF was successfully repaired, she has developed Pulmonary Valve Regurgitation, a side effect of the initial surgery. She will undergo multiple heart surgeries over the course of her life to replace her pulmonary valve as needed, with the next likely occurring between age 12 - 14.
We are excited to celebrate these beautiful hearts during CHD awareness week, February 7th - 14th.
